Transport Services Dispatcher
Job Description:
The Transport Services Dispatcher is responsible for finding and purchasing transportation services to cover our available shipments. This includes all aspects of developing and maintaining an effective base of carriers in their region to service the present and future needs of our shipping customers. This will be accomplished through researching and finding high quality carriers, developing long-term relationships with them, gaining a mastery of the various information services available, and accurately dispatching drivers to pick up our freight. Experience in working with reefer carriers and/or carriers running in the Northeast part of the country is especially helpful.
It requires a unique combination of skills in building relationships as well as an orientation to details and organization to keep track of multiple shipments in transit at any given time in addition to the pressure of needing to find trucks to pick up the freight that is available for us.
A minimum of 2 years recent, hands on experience working with carriers is required. Having a strong following of loyal carriers will maximize your value in our organization.
